SCARCE Neil Armstrong SIGNED 8x10 NASA WSS Numbered Photo Apollo 11 LOA 1971

Description

Scarce official color glossy 8 x 10 numbered NASA photo (S-69-31741) of CDR Armstrong in his white space suit against a lunar backdrop, signed and inscribed in blue felt tip, "To Gledhill Cameron—with best wishes, Neil Armstrong, Apollo 11.” Reverse bears purple NASA caption text and "A Kodak Paper" watermarks. In very good to fine condition, with small creases and surface impressions, and a paperclip impression to the top edge.
The recipient of this photo, Gledhill Cameron Zapolski, was a staff writer for the Trenton Times newspaper in New Jersey. Also included is a transmittal letter from Armstrong’s secretary Geneva Barnes, NASA letterhead, May 18, 1971, forwarding to Zapolski the photograph and stating: “Mr. Armstrong has asked me to reply to your letter requesting that he respond to your questions which you plan to use as a basis for a second anniversary article in your Sunday magazine.”
As stated, photo comes with a LOA from the highly reputable auction house I purchased it from, along with the original letter from Armstrong’s secretary for ironclad provenance. Guaranteed for life to pass your favorite authenticator or your money back in full!
